This Friday, I commence studying Psycho-Cybernetics by Dr
Maxwell Maltz with my Achiever Group (TAP Programme) during our
monthly study calls. One of the group who has pre-read it is now
listening to it on mp3 and has already had some great results
through the experience. In fact, it is fair to say she is a raving
fan already. If you have not read it and enjoy personal development
it is a must read.

It very much fits within the Be More. Achieve More philosophy,
which is why we are studying as a group. I therefore wanted to
share several elements.
Dr Maxwell Maltz was a plastic surgeon and what he found with
some of his patients was that many who had surgery for cosmetic
reasons grew in confidence. However, for some there was no shift in
confidence. What he realised was that it all came down to
self-image. If a person had developed a negative self-image of
themselves through self programming, even after surgery, it
sometimes did not change how they felt about themselves.
This can be replicated to for example sales peopler. A salesman
with a poor self image cannot improve their sales performance
unless they have built their self image up. With some of the
techniques in this book some incredible changes have occurred for
people.
For me Dr Maltz really hit the nail on the head when he
wrote:
'I became more convinced that what each of us really wants,
deep down, is more life - some thing I termed aliveness, the
experience of living a life unrestricted by self-image-imposed,
artificial limits.
Isn't that what we are really all after? That sense of freedom.
To have re-programmed ourselves to such an extent that we have
thrown off the constraints and truly feel alive.
A quote I also love in Chapter 2 is by Henry David Thoreau
'If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams and
endeavours to live the life which he has imagined he will meet with
a success unexpected in common hours'
Let's break this down as this is worth studying:
'...one advances confidently...' (build your confidence by
keeping moving forward)
'in the direction of your dreams'. I write about this in my ebook
and workbook 'How to Be More to Achieve More' as 'live a life you
love'.
'...which he has imagined' - imagination is key. Napolean said
'Imagination rules the world'. Keep on developing what you want
with your imagination. Take the time to use it to create a great
future for yourself - your work, career, business, family.
Everything you see around you (certainly that is man made) was
first created in thought.
'...he will meet with success unexpected in common hours' - Why?
Because you will be following a formula that great achievers
do.
If you have not read it, this book gives some great exercises to
help build your self image. You can check out my book review
