Last week Ronnie James Dio sadly died. A vocalist with an
incredible rock voice. If you don't know him, he sang in bands such
as Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Dio and Heaven and Hell.
My first memory of him was seeing him in concert in the early
1980's. He pointed me out in the audience and gave me this
wonderful warm smile. As a 15 year old schoolboy at the time, I was
so pleased. That smile has stayed with me for over 25
years!
I make the point, because sometimes we can just forget to smile.
We get so wrapped up in our day. However, smile at someone and you
pass energy to the them. You feel good and usually so do they.
I once lived in London and every work morning I went to my car,
while an elderly lady was usually also getting hers. Without fail,
I would say 'good morning' and smile. For at least 6 months she
completely ignored me. Not a smile or a word. Then one day she
caved in and I remember laughing to myself all the way to work.
From then on a smile was waiting for me whenever I looked at her.
We never had a conversation but in a small way I knew it had
made a difference.
You probably already know that smiling creates a rush of chemicals
that make us feel happier. It is almost impossible not to feel
better by smiling. We can just get out of practice. So if you want
to feel better quickly give it a go. It may leave a big impact on
someone. With my wife it all started with a smile!
Like Ronnie did for me, your smile may even be remembered 25 years
later! For Ronnie I will always enjoy his legacy. In his words 'You
are the Driver. You Own The Road, You Are the Fire, Go on EXPLODE'!
Not literally, just his reference to illuminating the world with
you positive contribution. If you want to check him out 'Heaven and
Hell' by Black Sabbath or 'Holy Diver' by Dio are both great
classic rock albums. Though it is not to everyones taste! RIP
Ronnie, best wishes to his family and thanks for the smile!
Have a great day.
