One of the biggest challenges we face in moving towards our
goals is overcoming our FEAR.
If this is an issue for you, I would recommend the following
book.

THE 50TH LAW is by 50 Cent and Robert Greene. I enjoyed it so much
that I went straight back to the start and read it again. Thanks
Steve Robinson of Si Training and Consulting for the
suggestion.
It hit a nail on the head for me. A defining ingredient for some
people is being
fearless. 50 Cent grew up on the streets of New York with what
appeared to be little option but to become a drug dealer. Which he
did. His mother had been murdered when he was only 8. She herself
was a dealer. He was also shot 9 times and left for dead.
However, he survived, turned himself around after this major
incident and applied his learning from the streets (and prison) to
become very successful and influential in the music world.
One of the reasons for his success is complete fearlessness in the
business world. When you have been through so much in your past and
you know what you want then why would you be scared in the
relatively safe business world in comparison? 50 Cent proves you
can learn from your experiences and make a success of
yourself.
As one of my friends John Regan says in his book 'Yes You Can'.
'Sharpen your vision of what you want or you WILL be at the mercy
of your environment'. Decide what you want, make it positive and
turn it into something worthwhile.
So how do we become less fearful? Well you just have to get into
the fear zone regularly with your actions and you will move
forward. Les Brown suggests that you 'Leap and grow your wings on
the way down'! Just in case anyone thinks this means off a tall
building it does not. It means take positive action by getting on
with it and learning as you go!
Remember progress is something you work at and work at. You earn
your breakthroughs. There are generally no quick fixes. Overcoming
fears and taking action is the only way to move forward.
I'd recommend this book if you want some inspiration on how to
learn from the past and move forward positively. There are also
some great historical examples in it. If you enjoy history and like
to read some different examples (rather than some of the frequently
regurgitated stories) then this is a must read development book.
The hardback is also beautifully presented. My photo above does not
do it justice.
