Wealth Reflections in the snow

19 February 2010 by Chris Cooper

Clearing your mind, doing what you love and adding lots of value to others are key components to true wealth and success.

This morning I took my dog out for a walk in the snow. We live in Leicestershire in England and have a beautiful park nearby called Bradgate.

I thought I'd share a few pictures I took and some reflections on wealth and success that I hope are of value to you. Read this carefully as believe me there are some real golden nuggets tucked away in it.

Walking each day challenges me as I know I have to be ruthless with my time. Also I feel guilty sometimes enjoying myself as I have been programmed that I should be working. Something which can be a weakness. However, making the effort is ALWAYS productive. I would strongly recommend that if you can get out, DO IT, your day will be better for it.

I am fortunate compared to many, because working for myself I can take time out when I want. It doesn't matter if I don't get back until 10am. It wasn't always like that, commuting early in the morning in London traffic to a chocolate factory in Slough.

While walking I was thinking of a statement I have heard a few times lately. Do you know that only 1% of people are doing what they truly love doing and making an income from it?

Have you thought about what you really enjoy doing and considered that perhaps you could make a living from it too? Perhaps you could become very wealthy and successful doing it. Would life be better if you did? Would the odds of success be higher?

Take Paul Reed Smith who built guitars in his garage and now has an amazing premium guitar company. Or Steve Jobs a self confessed computer nerd. Do you think Simon Cowell enjoys what he is doing? Now this doesn't mean we have to be famous. Your idea might be a flower business, selling fishing rods, coaching football. Whatever it is for you.

However, the key is that if you are doing what you love doing your motivation is so much higher. Find what it is and you are well on your way. Do you think Billie Connolly would have been as successful as a welder in a shipyard? Would he have been as wealthy and happy?

Several years ago when I left full time employment, I didn't know what I wanted. I then set up a company with some colleagues and made a very good income, stripping costs out of companies. Was it me? No!

So I then invested alot of the money studying with a number of great personal development experts. It took several years and some frustration to work out what I really wanted to do.

So here I am today wiser, less stress and doing work I love. And that includes walking my dog Barney (below), which is actually working because I am thinking about Be More. Achieve More. I am thinking about a key question:

'How can Be More. Achieve More develop to add more value in more ways to more people'?

What is interesting when you create the life you want. Even hobbies, that you thought were not useful (such as taking pictures) can become useful. There should be no other site in the world with these photos!

When you find out what you want to do, work out how you can add the most value to others. Achieve this and wealth may take longer but when it does come, the tap may really open for you.

So there you go, some wealth reflections in the snow! Inspired by a very enjoyable and productive morning walk!

Chris,I hear every day people saying "If I was rich I would't come to work today in this weather" Same as I said this morning sitting on street looking left and right even up for the customers for my small bussiness.
I felt sad and cursing my bussness which may curse me as well according to the Law of Attraction.Your article reminds me how I enjoyed playing soccer in both hot and rain weather with no complain when I was young. I loved what I was doing. Thanks for thiking of us wherever you go.oho next day you go again give camera to your dog to shoot you also.

Hi Ali, thanks for your thoughts. There are many people in this economy looking for customers. We just have to add as much value to them as we can. Even if that is in the way we greet them and make them feel special while they are with us. We have to leave them wanting to come back.

Being unhappy with our current circumstances is a great signal that perhaps we need to make some changes.

I did go out in the snow again today. Unfortunately my dog has paws like a small bear and all his pictures were blurred. If I could teach him to take my photograph it might be a great way to generate some free PR for my business! So thanks for the idea (big smile)!
