Last night I attended a Professional Speaking Association
meeting. Why? Because I think it is important to surround yourself
with people who can influence you to think and to act in a way that
moves you towards your vision. Not only that, the energy that being
with such positive people brings completely recharges your battery
and helps you to keep making progress. Also, you meet people who
are great to have as part of your network.
The speaker was Lynn
Grocott. Lynn shared her very harrowing life story. One of
childhood abuse, heroin addiction, serious health issues and more.
She also shared how she had discovered self development and
transformed herself from victim to an inspirational achiever.
Today, many children in Africa owe their lives to her fundraising
and many people are inspired to move themselves forward through her
message.
What was remarkable was not just her personal transformation but
also how she so eloquently told her story. For this she received a
standing ovation from the group, including some very seasoned
professional speakers.
How did she do all this? Well Lynn is a great example of
becoming more to achieve more. Her message is that 'I DECIDE'. You
can choose to be a victim or you can choose to be someone who makes
the most of every day. Discovering her purpose in life and creating
a vision that was bigger than herself, she is now making a real
influence in the world.
If you think you are going through a tough time there are always
people who have been through more and triumphed.
